ABOUT
Bio
Born and raised in Prince George, BC, Shelby’s love of the performing arts started from an early age. She grew up singing and dancing at Judy Russell’s Enchaînement Dance Centre and was soon competing in music and dance festivals around BC.
Inspired to pursue her passions further, Shelby moved to Toronto and studied Musical Theatre Performance at Randolph College for the Performing Arts, and later lived in Amman, Jordan where she taught dance and theatre. Somehow though, Shelby always finds herself returning home to the wonderful arts community of Northern BC to share her knowledge and passion, and to help foster the next generation of performing artists. Shelby currently teaches and choreographs musical theatre, ballet, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical at Judy Russell’s Enchaînement Dance Centre and is the Co-Artistic Director at Duchess Park Theatre Company. Shelby has also worked as a director, choreographer, and music director at The Sunset Theatre in Wells, BC.
Although Shelby loves to teach, her passion is performing. She is a professional theatre artist and has appeared on the Prince George stage in The Mousetrap (Mollie) and The Marvelous Wonderettes (Cindy Lou) with Theatre Northwest. Other select credits include Legally Blonde (Elle Woods), Cabaret (Sally Bowles), The Sound of Music (Maria), Spamalot (Lady of the Lake), and Evil Dead (Annie). Shelby has appeared in the Toronto Fringe Festival, and SummerWorks Toronto.
